REA's TESTware for the GRE CBT, Version T-A-1-A |
If you've taken a practice exam and your questions appear "unanswered" in the score report, if your score report appears blank, or an error message occurs when you attempt to view your explanations or "unpause" a test, download the patch below. And don't worry. All of your answer choices have been saved, you will not have to take the exam again.
When prompted, save the patch to your hard drive. When the download is complete, simply double-click on the file, and follow the directions screens as they appear.
Download TESTware_Patch.exe (approximately 260 KB).

Missing Buttons |
If you've launched REA's TESTware and chosen an exam, but you don't see a row of buttons at the bottom of the screen when you try to choose an answer, it's just a display setting issue. Please perform the following steps to fix this problem:
- From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel, or Settings, then Control Panel, depending on which version of Windows you're running
- Once in the Control Panel, choose Display
- Once in Display, choose the last tab on the right, labeled Settings
- Once in Settings, choose Advanced, in the lower right corner
- Once in Advanced, set your DPI Setting to Normal, or 96 DPI
The next time you launch your TESTware you'll have all the buttons you need. |

| When running Windows 2000 or Windows XP, users may experience an MTINEW error when taking practice tests. Click here to download the patch and application instructions.

Error Message: 16 bit Windows Subsystem - C:\WINDOWS\SYSTEM32\AUTOEXEC.NT. The system file is not suitable for running MS-DOS and Microsoft Windows applications. Choose 'Close' to terminate the application.
| Some of our installers use 16-bit Windows technology, which requires a file called Autoexec.NT to be present our your system. This error message occurs if this file is either missing or has been corrupted. Some reasons for the absence or corruption of this file include recent installation of Windows XP Service Pack 2, certain spyware applications, and in some cases a computer virus. To fix this problem, please follow these steps:- Browse to C:\WINDOWS\repair
- Right-Click on AUTOEXEC.NT and choose Copy
- Browse to C:\WINDOWS\System32
- Right-Click inside the window and choose Paste
- Try running the installer again

Error Message: 339 Error
| Instructions for Windows Vista (Windows XP Instructions Below)
1. Browse to C:\Windows\System32. If there's a file already there called FMSSPLIT.OCX, please rename it to FMSSPLIT.BAK, so that you'll have it should you need it again. If the file is not there, just skip to the next step.
2. Save the attached file to C:\Windows\System32
3. From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
4. From Control Panel choose User Accounts
5. From User Accounts, click on your user account
6. Choose Turn UAC On or Off
7. Choose Turn UAC Off
8. Restart
9. From the Start Menu, type Run in the Smart Search box
10. At the Run command, type REGSVR32 C:\Windows\System32\FMSSPLIT.OCX
11. You should receive a message at this point that confirms success of the registration
12. From the Start Menu, choose Control Panel
13. From Control Panel choose User Account
14. From User Accounts, click on your user account
15. Choose Turn UAC On or Off
16. Choose Turn UAC On
17. Restart
The program should now be fully functional.

Windows XP Instructions
