What is SSD?
To ensure equal access to standardized testing, students with disabilities are provided services and reasonable accommodations appropriate to the student's disability and the purpose of the exam. Services for Students with Disabilities (SSD) provides testing accommodations for students who have documented disabilities for these exams: - Advanced Placement (AP) Program
- PSAT/NMSQT
- SAT
- GRE
- CLEP
- GED
REA's test preparation software, called TESTware, may also provide accommodation services for students with disabilities. If you've purchased REA's TESTware and SSD accommodations are provided for your exam, SSD databases may be available. |
What SSD accommodations are available?
Timing/Scheduling:
All the College Board's standardized tests are timed. If the normally allotted time is not appropriate due to a disability, an appropriate amount of extended time is then determined. TESTware can change its exam timer to match your extended time allotment. TESTware can also be easily configured to allow for frequent breaks and multiple day testing situations.
Presentation:
TESTware's variable resolution (down to 800x600) can duplicate the actual exam's large print booklets, answer sheets, and other testing materials. |
SSD Quick Fact:
Before taking the actual exam, students and parents must submit one SSD Student Eligibility Form for all three College Board programs during the student's high school career (unless he/she transfers to another school). SSD Student Eligibility Forms can be submitted early, preferably in the Spring at most one year before the student plans to take the test. Eligibility letters for those students approved to receive accommodations are sent to both students and their SSD coordinators. |
